Initial Clinical Data Report for CTTS Clients

The following data is from CTTS data base (all clients in the last nine month; April 2008-January 2009)

Comparisons between the four major ethnic groups in the CTTS data base:

N= 201. The data include primary and secondary torture survivors.

The measures we used in mental health and trauma screening are:

  • CAPS-2 the frequency part, (17 items) which is considered the gold standard in PTSD measurement. It is validated previously on Iraqi refugees and found to have good reliability and validity. It has, in this mixed sample, Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of .936, which indicates a good reliability.

  • CTD mental health screening measures (15 items) that screen for different mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety interface, psychotic symptoms such as hearing voices no body else may hear or see, as well as suicidal , and executive function deficits. It is validated previously on Iraqi refugees and found to have good reliability and validity. It has, in this mixed sample Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of .977, which indicates a good reliability.

  • CTS Cumulative Trauma Scale (33 items) that screen for the occurrence and frequency of trauma. It is validated previously in Iraqi refugees and found to have good reliability and validity. It has, in this mixed sample Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of .805, which indicates an adequate reliability.
