Adolescent Health and Youth Development

Adolescent Health and Youth Development (AHYD) serves youth from age 10 to 19 which includes abstinence education, community involvement, health education, clinical services and life skills to help them succeed into adulthood. AHYD is a two part program: which is addressed at the teen centers and youth development which is provided countywide.

AHYD has developed and sponsored programs that outreach to high-risk teens, reinforce life skill development, and reduce risk-taking behaviors; such as violence, substance abuse, poor school performance and sexual activity. DeKalb has three teen centers managed by health directors. East teen center recently opened with a focus on youth development. Click here to read the press release.
