DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
HAS FLU VACCINE FOR HIGH-RISK PERSONS

The DeKalb County Board of Health again has vaccine available for persons four years old and older who are at high risk for complications from this year's flu.

In addition, the Board of Health has a limited supply of vaccine for persons under age four.

Vaccine will be provided as long as available for the following high-risk individuals:

  • persons age 65 and older
  • children between six months and 23 months of age
  • persons with a chronic illness and
  • women who are in their second or third trimester of
    pregnancy.

The contacts of these individuals should be immunized as well. They include:

  • health care workers in both hospital and outpatient settings
  • staff of nursing homes and other residential care sites and
  • persons who live with or provide home care to those in the high-risk groups.

The vaccination costs $14 and Medicare Part B and Medicaid are accepted.

Flu vaccine is available at all Board of Health centers. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:15 a.m. till 5 p.m. and services are provided on a first come-first serve basis.
