FREE WORKSHOP ON SERVING DIVERSE COMMUNITIES

Metro Atlanta's diversity is one of its great strengths. However, due to language and other cultural differences, it also poses challenges to organizations that serve the public.

Anthropologist Kitty Kelley will facilitate a workshop to help individuals and organizations respond effectively to people of all cultures, classes and races. This ability is known as "cultural competency."

The free training will be held on Wednesday, February 20, and again on Wednesday, March 27, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The location is the Bohan Auditorium, second floor, Richardson Health Center, 445 Winn Way, Decatur (near DeKalb Medical Center). To register, contact Eve Calhoun, DeKalb County Board of Health, at (404) 294-3816 or ebcalhoun@gdph.state.ga.us. Please indicate which session you plan to attend.

The cultural competency workshop is sponsored by the Georgia Department of Human Resources' Refugee Health Program and is hosted by the Refugee Health Services of the DeKalb County Board of Health's County-Wide Services.
