Breast and Cervical Cancer Program
  • Breast and cervical cancer death rates are highest among women who do not receive timely cancer screening.  This program provides access to breast examination and mammograms for low-income, uninsured, and underserved women between the ages of 40-64 years. It also provides access to pelvic examinations and Pap tests to screen for cervical cancer in women 21-64 years that are low-income, uninsured, and underserved. If results are abnormal, diagnostic evaluations are completed and clients are referred for treatment through the Women’s Health Medicaid Program. Please call 404-244-2200 for further information.
Family planning

Injury prevention
  • The Office of Injury Prevention identifies the leading causes of injury and injury-related death to persons of all ages. Two coalitions, Safe Kids of DeKalb and Safe Communities of DeKalb, work to develop and implement prevention programs to reduce injuries and injury-related deaths.

HIV testing
  • The DeKalb County Board of Health provides confidential HIV testing. Standard testing is available with results given in two weeks. A “rapid test” referral can be provided when needed.
Infectious diseases, treatment, and investigation
  • The Office of Infectious Diseases is responsible for the prevention, detection, control and investigation of potential infectious diseases and clusters of illness, excluding sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
Flu Shots
  • Influenza often called the flu, is a contagious, potentially serious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that attack the upper respiratory tract. It can cause mild to severe illness and at times can lead to death. Flu viruses are easily spread from person to person in respiratory droplets released into the air by coughing and sneezing.

Refugee health services
  • Refugee Health Services provide screening for newly arrived refugees (within 90 days of arrival) for chronic diseases, communicable diseases, and impairments. Any abnormalities are evaluated and treated or referred for treatment. DeKalb County Board of Health provides education and an introduction to all services.
Tobacco use prevention
  • Educates the community on the health effects of tobacco use, secondhand smoke, and how to eliminate it from our environment. Also, provides a referral to cessation resources within DeKalb County.

Medicaid
  • Medicaid Is accepted at all health centers — Georgia Better Health Care, PeachCare for Kids, Medicare, Medicaid, Amerigroup, Peach State, WellCare, cash, checks (Georgia banks only), debit, and credit cards are accepted at all health centers.
Women, Infants & Children
  • Special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children. WIC provides the following at no cost: healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care. Learn more.
