Pools and Beaches
During the summer, the Division of Environmental Health, Technical Services program, permits and inspects approximately 800 seasonal swimming pools and beaches each year beginning just before Memorial Day and ending on Labor Day.
Whenever a pool is open (seasonally or year-round) it is inspected at least once a month. Each beach is tested at least once a week during the summer.
In addition, seminars are conducted twice each year for pool owners and operators, so they understand the level of care and maintenance needed to provide a safe recreational water facility for the public.
