Birth Records

All Georgia Births

The person listed on the birth certificate, or either parent listed, can obtain a birth certificate with proof of VALID ID and payment of the fee. A maternal grandparent and a paternal grandparent (IF father is listed) may also obtain a certificate with proof of VALID ID and the fee.

Fees

The fee is $25 for the first copy per certificate requested and $5 each additional copy of the same certificate requested at the same time. DeKalb accepts cash, money orders, and debit and credit cards.

Death Records

Death records can be obtained from the county office where the deceased was PRONOUNCED or the county listed on the certificate as the legal residence. All fees are the same as above. Death certificates with a cause of death will only be issued to the IMMEDIATE next of kin with proof of RELATIONSHIP and VALID ID and the fee. Certificates WITHOUT the cause can be issued to others with VALID ID and the fee.
