When was the last time you checked to make sure your family’s vaccinations are current? August is National Immunization Awareness Month. It’s a reminder that people of all ages need timely vaccinations to protect their health.

“Vaccinations are the No. 1 way to fight vaccine-preventable diseases,” said the DeKalb County Board of Health’s District Health Director S. Elizabeth Ford, M.D., M.B.A. “Our goal is more than keeping children healthy. It’s also to protect them and those around them from disease.”

The recommended vaccination schedules are at: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules. Additional information can be found at http://dph.georgia.gov/immunization-section.

Vaccinations are available at all Board of Health centers. For information on the DeKalb County Board of Health’s immunization and other services, visit https://dekalbhealth.net or call (404) 294-3700.
